Sometimes to find love, you must first learn forgiveness.

A dozen years, two thousand miles, and a law degree after high school, Rafi Steiner continues to harbor resentment toward Isaac Jones, his childhood bully turned NBA star. When Isaac appears at Rafi's favorite restaurant acting like a long-lost friend, Rafi bluntly dismisses him.

But Isaac is tenacious and he has his heart set on the grown-up version of the boy he always wanted and never forgot. The way Isaac sees it, he and Rafi are perfect for each other, if only he could sink the most important shot of his life: his one shot at forgiveness.

I really loved a Shot at Forgiveness when I first read it. Cardeno C. made me love Rafi and Isaac.  I loved the revised addition of this book.  It is even better than the original. Things are smoothed over better, and the story flows cohesively.  Also the revisions really do make Rafi look less whiny which is always good.
Rafi is a gay man, he loves his life, he is strong with who he is. He has always been okay with being gay even when he was a kid. This got him teased and bullied by Isaac who seemed fixated on making his life hell as a kid.
Isaac could never accept or understand he was gay as a kid. All he knew is he was fascinated by Rafi. He couldn’t stop watching him. Good thing too cause Rafi was a very uncoordinated kid.  When he sees his childhood crush again when he is an adult and accepts who he is, this is a game changer for this NBA star. He is willing to risk everything to be with Rafi.
Rafi has to learn in this book to forgive and see his childhood in a different light. I liked watching him grow up.  Isaac is definitely a man who is willing to do whatever it takes to have his man.  I love this growing up and accepting yourself themed book.  I cannot stop reading it, makes me smile and believe true love really can conquer all.
