Falling for his brother's boyfriend broke his heart. Now he's back home and falling in love all over again.

One birthday kiss, given on a dare, and Kieran realizes he is in danger of falling for his brother’s boyfriend, Jordan. Leaving for college, then moving to another country is the only way to ease the ache in his heart.

But, when his father becomes ill, and his sister begs him to come home, Kieran returns for good. He finds the family business nearly bankrupt and Jordan, the man he ran from, beaten down by despair and guilt.

Friendship is what they promise each other as they work to repair the business, but it could never be enough for Kieran. When secrets spill, and there are vital decisions to be made, Kieran realizes two things; he’s back home, and he wants to stay with Jordan for good.

Now he just needs to convince Jordan

Back Home is a stand alone novel by author RJ Scott. We have two men who have gone through a lot to be together in this story. There is a huge amount of angst, pain, and love inside this story. I particularly liked the last chapters. I felt the pace there was the best. The rest kinda dragged a little for me. However the ending was worth it.
Jordan works with wood. He is really a workaholic. He was with Kieran's brother. Now that he has died, he find himself adrift. Working is his life. He is hyper focused on it. He cannot see he is not taking care of himself. He gets an injury that puts him in the hospital.
Over all Jordan is cautious and really sweet. He has been terribly hurt before and does not want more of it.
Kieran has basically run away from love. He really loves Jordan. He knows that love was not a good thing considering Jordan was with his brother. So he takes himself out of the picture and goes to London to start over. He is a workaholic. He wants to get to a place where he can do what he wants which is building design. He has no intentions of going back to Vermont. That is till his sister calls him and begs him to come home.
Kieran tries very hard to stop his feelings for Jordan. He is a responsible person who puts others first. When he finally gives in that is when we see the playful, sweet, and caring Kieran shine.
This story is sweet and a powerful read. I found myself in love with the characters. I really want this to be a series I want to know what happens with Kieran's best friend. I feel he deserves a happy ending too. There are unforgettable characters in this story and I want more!
