Sick of the spy game, former CIA operative Vic Walker takes time off from his security firm to figure out just what he wants out of life. But peace and quiet isn’t in the cards with a former business partner and ex-lover like MacKenzie Donovan.

Mac doesn’t like asking for help from anyone, but this latest case has her in a little over her head. She crashes back into Vic’s life with the CIA, the Russian Mob, and the FBI, on her tail after a job goes south.

But even as old feelings rise to the surface while they’re busy dodging bullets, the authorities, and mobsters, they’ll need to get out alive before they can have a second chance at love.

The Boss by author Melissa Schroeder has action, adventure, spies, and lots of love! I adored this book. The pacing of it is just right always keeping me guessing what would happen next. I love strong Heroines and Mackenzie or Mac as she likes to be called is a very strong independent woman. Former British spy she is a woman you do not want to mess with. She loves just as fiercely as she works. Vic was a former lover. Well if she is honest she wants him now too, but this on and again off again thing they do is getting to her. She wants him either all in or all out. But she is not even sure where she stands for a while in this book. Mac is the girl you want as your best friend. She will be there for you through thick and thin.
Vic. He is former CIA. He can kick butt pretty well himself. He thought he was falling for Mac so he ran. Who knew she would follow and bring all the trouble she could with her. Not that Vic minds. He wants the action and adventure. And he wants Mac. She is the one he thought he could never have. Now he might have his second chance. He is determined to get it right this time.
Over all loved this story. Could not put it down. I keep re reading it as well. This book is going on my keeper shelf. When I want to read about some very hot spies and the trouble they get into in and out of bed I will pull this one out and read it.
