Jayne Sparks, a potty-mouthed, rebellious seventeen-year-old and her best friend, shy and bookish Tony Green, have a pretty typical high school existence, until several seemingly unrelated incidents converge, causing a cascade of events that change their lives forever. Jayne and Tony, together with a group of runaway teens, are hijacked and sent into a forest, where nothing and no one are as they seem. Who will emerge triumphant? And what will they be when they do?
Mild Violence in this book recommended for 15yrs and Up
The Changeling by Elle Casey is the first book in the War of Fae series. I really like the start to this new and amazing series. The main character Jayne Sparks is sharp tongued, rude, and thinks she can take on the world. Her friend Tony Green is shy and always stays in the safe zone of conversations and activities at school. After a line of events occur in their lives the pair decided to run away from home, encountering a group of misfits and runaways. Low on money, wanting to make more to feed themselves, Jayne and Tony discover an unknown company seeking test subjects. The reward? Five hundred dollars. Excited to get paid for answering a few simple questions, little do they know the group of runaways bit off more than they can chew…
I really enjoyed the fast pace of the book. I didn’t have difficulty following along with the plot line. I thoroughly enjoyed how unique each character’s personalities were in the group of runaways. When I started to read the story I felt like it took a while for the story to begin with the plot line and action. Also I felt like the ending of the book stopped very abruptly after everything was explained to the characters about why they faced certain challenges within the book. Over all I believe this was a great read! I’d recommend it to anyone seeking an adventurous novel.
