This is an anthology with stories which touch on bdsm in some fashion. Some of the stories are what I would term bdsm light while some are a little more hardcore, although none of them are extreme in nature. This anthology has twelve stories and is contemporary in nature. Dominant Persuasions has a little bit of something for everyone who loves BDSM.
And while overall I enjoyed this anthology, I must admit that Yes Justin by Michele Zurlo was one of my favorites. In this story Justin and Tricia have grown apart. They are married but no longer connect. With the help of a friend they are able to bring passion and communication back into their marriage. While short, this story hit every romantic button I have. I was worried that cheating would be involved, but Ms. Zurlo cleverly wove a tale that was passionate, uplifting and believable. I also thoroughly enjoyed Under His Protection by Doris O’Connor. Jacqui and Lukas were hot together and Ms. O’Connor does a wonderful job of articulating the feelings both are dealing with as the moved toward a happily ever after. Another favorite was Submitting to Temptation by Jan Graham. This story wasn’t new to me as I owned this story but it is one that I have re-read more than once and still enjoy. Susan’s struggle to accept not only herself but her sexually needs is wonderfully articulated and I adore Blake’s patience and strength.
Overall this is a wonderful collection with plenty for everyone. Whether you are new to reading bdsm or an old hat, there is something for everyone. The stories are for the most part well written and enjoyable. While a couple of the stories didn’t really light my fire, those were outweighed by those I enjoyed thoroughly. This is a great anthology and a wonderful introduction to the world of fictional bdsm.
