Shelby Whitman beat cancer several years ago, but the resulting physical and emotional damage left her feeling like less than a real woman. The comfort she found in the BDSM community brightened her world again, however, she kept the Doms at a distance. Play was fine. Relationships were not. And that was fine until Master Parker caught her eye. Now, her cancer has returned and she refuses to be a burden to anyone...especially the one man who has crawled his way into her heart.

Parker Christiansen has craved the perky sub for as long as he can remember, but Shelby has refused to negotiate a scene with him and he has no idea why. When he finds out she is secretly going through chemotherapy, he insists that she move in with him. She needs a Dom to take care of her and he is more than up for the task.

Can Parker convince Shelby that he loves her no matter what and if they only have this time together, they should make the best of it?

Review
Shelby’s cancer has returned. She has taken a temporary leave from the club and is determined to fight this battle alone. But the man she has kept at a distance is equally determined to be there for the woman who has captured his heart. In Not Negotiable by Samantha Cole, a serious issue is raised but with a light touch. I was impressed by Shelby, Parker and the rest of the gang. The friendship and tight bonds of this community Ms. Cole is building was apparent throughout this story.
Shelby is a club favorite and has had small parts throughout this series but she is front and center in this story and I could be nothing but impressed with this character. She faced her illness with grace and did not lose her strong will. While she was down she was by no means out. She tried to protect Parker but he made it abundantly clear that while he appreciated the sentiment, he needed to be a part of her life, no matter how short or difficult. I loved how hard he fought to give Shelby the support she needed even as he believed in her strength.
In spite of the weighty issue, Ms. Cole still focused on the love. The growing love between Parker and Shelby. The love between friends who have made each other family. I can honestly say I laughed, I cried and I found a new favorite story in this series by Ms. Cole.
