Alaina Stratten's dream of purchasing a rare cloth to take home falls flat once she sets eyes on a man and child in shackles. His gaze compels her to step up and do something. Before she knows it, she's the new owner of the slave pair.

Betrayed by his wife and sold into slavery, Race Trevern desperately needs the break Alaina offers. Not about to waste their chance, Race quickly gains the advantage, vowing to give the woman a taste of captivity by making her his slave, his wife's treachery still a bitter aftertaste.

The past haunts Race, forcing his hand and threatening the precarious freedom he and his son recently gained. He needs assistance and the only one who can change the tide is locked in his dungeon. Race has no choice but to trust Alaina and hope her promises hold true. She holds their lives in her hands.

Review

Leap of Faith by Cheyenne Meadows is a really interesting scifi romance. I liked the premise of the story very much. Alaina goes to Orion to buy some expensive clothe. She has saved up for quite awhile for it. She is sure it will help her family's business to have it. There she sees a man and his son. Both slaves. Her planet does not believe in slavery, she feels compelled to rescue them. So she buys them both. Only to have it all go terribly wrong for her.
I loved her ability to love. She is kind, sweet, and very passive. I had a hard time with just how passive she was. I felt she needed more spirit, she gets some as the book progresses. But at first she is kind of a doormat.
Race is full of bitterness. He has been sold into slavery by his wife. His son sold along with him. He is determined to get back at her no matter what. His bitterness makes him blind to how sweet Alaina really is till it is almost too late.
Well, Race let me say at first he comes off as jerk of the year. He does have good reasons for this, but wow he really takes it as far as he can. He does get better as the book goes along, but I felt he was always more interested in his needs rather than Alaina's.
Over all this was an okay read. I did feel that both characters had huge flaws that stopped me from completely liking them. But by the end of the book I was okay with them. The passion is so so in this book,it is a good scifi book with spotty plot over all.
