Lucy Soren never expected to live through an alien attack. Months later, her nightmares won't let her forget the pain she suffered, or her strange attraction to the man who saved her from certain death.

Sentry Solomon Dusk never wanted to heal a mortal woman, but he can't forget Lucy's bravery or beauty. Even though he vowed to never again fall in love, Lucy attracts him like no other woman ever has before.

When the alien Spiders again slip past the Sentries' defenses, Solomon's only thought is to protect the woman he refuses to love. Lucy's only hope is to run from the danger to her heart. Unfortunately, the fate of the planet rests on their ability to work together. Fear of commitment has no place when love is the only thing that will save them from annihilation.

Review

Dusk is the second book in the Stronghold series by author Erin M. Leaf. Here we get to meet Lucy and Solomon. Lucy is pretending her experience with the spiders has not effected her. She is pretending all is normal when she feels nothing but normal. She keeps having nightmares, and is scared most of the time. But she tries bravely to go on like nothing is amiss.
Solomon he is a Sentry. He had saved the life of Lucy when she was attacked by the spiders. He cannot get her out of his mind. He has had a mate before and lost them, he doesn't want that pain again. But he cannot help how he feels about Lucy. He uses his teck and his science to protect the world from the spiders. He is the most solitary of all the Sentries but Lucy has managed to change that for him. When the spiders come back he will do whatever it takes to protect the woman he cannot live without.
This is a complicated book. Lots of things going on. I do recommend reading the first book in this series so you are not completely lost. I loved the fast paced, romantic style of writing this book has. I cannot wait for the next one to come out. I gotta know who falls in love next and what happens next in this war.
