In the dark of night, a war escalates within the hidden world of vampires. Haunted by a violent past, Isla Domenici joins the Watchers—a team of preternatural creatures who pursue the Vampire Hunters. Nothing will stop Isla from destroying the Hunters who kill his brethren. That is, until he encounters a human who ignites a passion that transcends the boundaries of life itself. But now an ancient evil has escaped the underworld, and a darkness is on the rise.
Born and raised in a life of privilege, Sean Sloane holds a dark secret. As much as he tries to hide who and what he is, there are some who possess that knowledge and hunt him relentlessly. Fleeing those who want to kill him, Sean stumbles into the Manacle. It’s a dark and mysterious world he never knew existed—a world where he discovers a black-haired stranger who tempts his very soul.
There’s something about Sean that intrigues Isla. He can’t quite put his finger on it. But he doesn’t have time for the human. Isla’s life is already too complicated. Yet, when Sean returns, Isla can’t resist the man. He should have walked away. Isla knows this—especially when an ancient evil escapes the underworld and goes after Isla, which in turn pulls Sean into a world he was never meant to be in. When Sean teeters on the brink of death, it’s up to Isla to either save the man or end his life.

Sean is drawn to Isla but can’t figure out why. Isla is drawn to Sean but knows it can lead nowhere.  Will either be satisfied trying to forget the other?  In Saving Sean by Lynn Hagen we learn that mating pull or not, both men are drawn to each other like moths to a flame.  Waiting to see who gets burned is more than half the fun in her latest addition to herChristian’s Covenseries.  I must admit that Isla has been one of my favorite secondary characters throughout this series.  He has been quietly in the background and Ms. Hagen decided to bring him out of the shadows.  I loved this deeply brooding character and watching him puzzle his attraction to Sean even as he fought his possessive nature was a well written treat.  I thought Sean was a wonderful foil to Isla.  He was street smart but innocent.  Isla had seen so much violence that Sean’s purity drew him even as he fought.  I loved that he wanted to be Sean’s knight even though Sean wasn’t sure he needed one.  Watching Sean and Isla find their happily ever after is an enjoyable read and this addition to the series was well worth the wait.
