While planning a future with his partner, Val, Wyatt’s past refuses to be forgotten. Wyatt’s old friend asks him to look into the mysterious death of her uncle in a fire back in 1927, when men were silent, tough, and did not love other men—except when they did. Working with Val, Wyatt digs up clues uncovering the truth behind the tragic school fire and the one responsible. The story of Tom and Philip slowly reveals itself, and Wyatt and Val realize nothing is as simple as they originally believed. As their trail heats up, an old enemy of Wyatt’s decides he’s waited long enough for revenge. If Wyatt can’t tie everything together, history might repeat itself.

This is my first time reading author Elizabeth Noble.  This is the second book in her Circles series and it should be read in order. I felt like I really missed a huge chunk of information I would have liked to have had. But having said that A Barlow Lens is one amazing story. I loved Wyatt and Val. That might be why I wished had how they fell in love, they are strong well thought out characters.  Wyatt’s career is investigating theft of cultural treasures. He works with homeland security.  This puts both him and Val into a lot of danger. Val would have no other way. He loves Wyatt and wants to marry him.  They have a life they both enjoy. I liked how both men seemed to be on equal footing. They each have a spark that the other needs to be whole.  Their story is really amazing. There is another love interest introduced not of the MCs but side characters I hope to see more of.  Over all this is a great story with amazing characters I did not want to let go of.
