Coming to Massey, TX was a favor to a friend, but soon Victor “Tricks” Michaels was calling it home. When his friend once again asked for a little help he stepped up to the plate. What he didn’t expect was the terror he’d have to see in her eyes.

Gennifer “Genny” Baker has always played up her party girl, troublemaker image. If people only ever expect the worst then they can never be disappointed. But she’s gotten herself in deeper than anything ever before and she needs help extricating herself, fast. A call home to her sister soon has help on the way. She just never expected it to come in such a sexy bundle.

A long road trip home shows Genny just what she’s truly been missing with a man of her own. If they survive what’s coming, maybe she can convince Victor he’s the Marine of her heart.

Review
Marine of Her Heart by April Zyon is third in the Massey, TX series.  This story can be read as a standalone.  I really enjoyed Genny.  She was a woman that allowed the view others had of her way too much power.  Now she needs to learn who she is and who she wants to be.  And there is nothing like a leisurely road trip to help you get your thoughts together.  Granted the reason for the trip isn’t conducive to introspection but what the hay, you gotta take your moments when you can, right?  I loved that Genny’s party girl persona hid a woman of character.  Even Genny didn’t realize just what she had to offer.  I loved that Victor saw past Genny’s fear and party girl ways to see a woman of strength.  I loved that Ms. Zyon told a story that was more than just a journey home.  We got to know Genny as she learned her strengths and weaknesses.  We got to see a woman who was loyal and honorable.  She fit perfectly with the man sent to escort her safely home.  I loved seeing the chemistry between Vic and Genny blossom as Genny learned to trust her intuition.  She didn’t allow the choices made while growing up to dictate how she saw herself.  Genny learned to trust in her wisdom.  I loved that Vic was there to see Genny spread her wings and land within the safety of his arms.
Ms. Zyon has given us yet another story full of old-fashioned courtship which I adore.  The heat is there between Vic and Genny but it is more of a simmer.  Something that I feel will last in spite of its questionable beginnings.  I thoroughly enjoyed my return to Massey, TX and can’t wait to see what Ms. Zyon has in store for us next.
