Luna Black has no past. Not since the accident that destroyed her memory and earned her a metal plate in her head. Well, that’s what she’s been told since that fateful day. Yet, from nearly the moment she meets her mates, something just doesn’t add up.

When the assignment comes up, Kristjan, an Ahnjel with a big heart, and Volker, a Vhampire with a mysterious past, volunteer there and then. She is their mate, after all. She is to be protected at all costs, even from her own family.

With her past finally revealed, memories regained, and the truth uncovered, Luna and her mates find that their lives are just truly becoming interesting. It won’t be easy and it won’t be quick, but one way or another they will unmask the fraud for who he truly is. Secrets will be unveiled, wrongs righted and, through it all, she will have her protectors, her mates, her lovers.

Luna’s Lovers by Honor James is fourth in the Beyond the Veil series. This story is best read in chronological order. Ms. James gives us another strong female character in Luna. Her past is a mystery. She has survived when no one thought she would but it came at a cost. And now she is beginning to remember and someone doesn’t want that to happen; enter Volker and Kristjan. When they took the protection detail little did they know it would change their world. It has just become personal because Luna is theirs. I love how serendipity played into their meeting. I mean I know it was planned in Ms. James’ head but it felt so natural on the written page. I loved how natural their meeting was in spite of the danger that surrounded them. Both Volker and Kristjan accepted that Luna would have challenges in addition to being a challenge. They allowed her as much freedom as possible as she navigated her past. Luna saw things differently and Volker and Kristjan made allowances for her without making her feel less than. I loved seeing their interaction as they surrounded Luna with love, support and respect.

This addition to the series by Ms. James was well written. It fit even as it moved the series arc along. I continue to enjoy this series and look forward to where she will take us next.
