Raised to become Alpha of the Yafenack pack, Samuel Goodwin dedicates his life to studying shifter laws, strengthening his body, and learning from his father. Taking control comes easily to Samuel, but relating to people, including those he's supposed to lead, is a constant challenge.

When Samuel meets Korban Keller, the son of a neighboring pack
s Alpha, he reacts with emotion instead of intellect for the first time in his life. Resenting the other shifter for putting him off-balance, Samuel first tries to intimidate Korban and then tries to avoid him. What he cant do is forget Korbans warm eyes, easy smile, and happy personality.

When a battle between their fathers results in tragedy, Samuel and Korban are thrown together. With his world crashing down around him, Samuel must save his pack and show them he can lead. But first, Korban needs to save Samuel by inspiring him to feel. Two very different men with a tumultuous history must overcome challenges from all sides and see past the rules they
ve been taught to realize they are destined to fit together.

Review of book:

There are those authors that you love so much, that when you see a piece of theirs that you havent read yet, you get a tingly feeling.  Hey, dont judge me.  For some its a good shoe sale that gets them going. For me, its a Cardeno C. book.

In Your Eyes is the third installment of the Mates series, and I had no problems following the plot without having read the previous books.  Will I read them?  You bet I will, just because I love knowing the back-story on characters I fall in book love with.

In this story, we have two male characters that, while they have much in common both are the son of the alpha in their respective wolf packs they couldnt be further apart in personality.  Korban Keller, heir apparent of the Miancarem pack had a magnetic personality.  People just seemed drawn to his upbeat nature, making his life look easy.  Samuel Goodwin was everything Korban was not.  Serious minded, even as a child, he studied hard so that when the time came for his father to pass the reins of the Yafenack pack to him, hed be able to apply everything hed learned.  Relationships and all of the physical contact that came with them, werent his forte. Even during his first encounter with Korban (when he was eight and Korban was eleven), he was convinced that there had to be some ulterior motive to being sought out by the other alphas son.

The two of them meet over the years at various gatherings, and Sam just cant wrap his head around why Korban is not only so persistent in looking for him, but seems genuinely happy to see the younger wolf.  It drove Sam insane trying to figure out why.  I loved that Sams inability to connect to his emotional side easily, made what should have been a simple matter of deductive reasoning so hard.  I also got a kick out of how amused Korban seemed to be over Sams stoic nature.  I figured out early on that the two of them would be mates, and it was easy to see that Korban had figured it out as well.  Patience is a virtue, and Korban had it in spades.

Youd think that making the connection that the two men were mates would mean that there were no surprises left in the plot, but youd be wrong.  The journey that Sam and Korban take to get to their happily ever after is full of ups, downs, twists and turns, making for some exciting reading.  Yes, their sexual chemistry was off of the charts, but the authors ability to write deeply emotional characters made the bed play a minor part of the story as a whole.  That, right there, made In Your Eyes by Cardeno C. a win/win for me, and guaranteed that Ill be reading the other two books in the series.
