If you run from love, you’re asking for a chase…
James Brock lived the past ten years without the woman he loves. Using his job as head of the Federal Paranormal Unit to help others, he’s done a good job of ignoring his lack of a personal life until she returns. His salvation. His first love.
Cynthia Vega had a very good reason to leave the only man she loved after she’d accepted his marriage proposal. Now she’s back as his boss. And he’s not willing to ignore their chemistry or the past.
Brock is determined to claim his mate and prove that their passion is even hotter than before. He wants her and her explanation behind their separation. Except, some secrets won’t stay buried in the past. Brock will fight his demons to follow her lead, but Cynthia’s reluctance to explain their lost love may be the one key to their destruction…

I love Brock.  I am still not quite sure what he is but I still loved him in Milly Taiden’s second installment of the Federal Paranormal Unit series, Dangerous Protector.  What I do know about Brock is that he has mad skills and is protective of those he considers his and now that Cynthia is back in his life, he refuses to go back to living half a life without her.  I adored his determination to find out why Cynthia left and what is keeping her from him.  She couldn’t hide her desire or her love so the gloves officially came off and it was sexy to see Brock work his magic.  Cynthia was plenty strong enough for Brock.  She understood him and even as she tried to protect him she was undermined by her heart and body.  I loved that she was protective and fought to give Brock what she thought was best.  But I adored even more that Brock refused to allow her to make a unilateral decision.  I loved the that Ms. Taiden allowed the strengths of both Brock and Cynthia to shine throughout this story.  Both characters were strong and protective of each other even if their ideas of what that meant were different.  I understood where each character was coming from and rooted for them to find a way to reconcile their differences.  I thought Ms. Taiden did a wonderful job of showing us why they were apart and a pathway to a joint future.  I am looking forward to what will happen next as the remaining members of Brock’s unit find their happily ever after.
