Upon moving to Arkadia, Madison Claybourne, a high-powered New York lawyer, discovers that she is mated to the diner’s busboy. No matter how downright sexy the man is, she has trouble seeing beyond his apron. Will she let perception cloud her judgment to the point where she may lose her mate?
Connor Arkadion is on the brink of exhaustion, helping to track a serial killer. With his mind burdened with the terrible images of the killer’s aftermath, he’s not looking to find his mate. When Madison dismisses him easily he knows he will have to take drastic measures for his mate to see the man he is. The only problem is that the man he truly is, isn’t what Arkadia knows him to be.
When evil once again begins to stalk Arkadia, Connor is suddenly on a timeline to find his missing mate before a maniac kills the one person to give him the solace he desperately craves.
If you are looking for a great series to read, then you can’t go wrong with Alanea Alders’ Kindred of Arkadia series. Every time I visit I enjoy the experience and with the addition of Fated Surrender I was reminded why I love the town and its residents through the eyes of someone new to the experience.
This story is best read in chronological order as it begins shortly after Fated Healingwith Madison visiting her brother in town and not expecting to find a mate. Her reaction to Connor, knowing he is her mate, was priceless, rude but priceless. That was the first time I found myself laughing out loud as I read Ms. Alders words but it was by no means the last. Connor’s reaction was equally dramatic and gave us a new understanding of this Arkadion brother. This story gave us tons of insight into the brother most residents come to for a sympathetic, empathetic and sometimes plan old kick in the pants piece of advice. We learn Connor is as alpha as his older brother, but full of hidden depths, which in my view made him quite a bit sexier. I mean who doesn’t love a man with the ability to listen and the ability to kick ass? Madison grew to love him and he quickly became one of my favorite Arkadia residents.
I thought Ms. Alder gave him an equally strong mate in Madison. She is quite a bit older than him and set in her ways. But she is fiercely loyal and unwilling to let Connor hide, not from his family, not from his friends and definitely not from her. I loved that brash, tough talking woman hid a soft heart. And when Connor pulled back those layers he found an awesome mate.
Ms. Alder has managed yet again to give us a story that allowed us to laugh and cry, sometimes all at once. I found this addition to the series moved the underlying story arc along while giving Connor and Madison their happily ever after. I continue to wait with bated breath to see what will happen next!
