Renae Gioli isn’t looking for adventure but it finds her in the form of an Italian speaking man named Alexandre DiMassone. The moment she hears his voice in a crappy dive bar she’s entranced. His strange behavior on the dance floor leaves her hot, wanting, and scared.
He’s captivated by her eyes and even as he fights it the vampire can’t help himself. Can he push aside his jaded attitude and embrace what Fate has given him before he loses her? His obsession spells trouble and lust for her. Kidnapping her was never in the cards, but he doesn’t have the willpower to let her walk away.
Rogue vampires, cougar shifters, and more intrude on their time. Can she forgive him for forcing his will on her and changing her entire life in a single bite? His arrogance knows no bounds but she catches a glimpse of the confusion beneath.

Review

I will admit I was happy to see that the second story in the Willie Krenshaw series by Ms. Barrymire was Alex’s story. I thoroughly enjoyed my first meeting of Alex and learning more about him made me like him that much more.  I loved his old world charm and found even his arrogance adorable.  He was so totally clueless about women in general and Renae in particular.  I could empathize with his dissatisfaction with life in general, I mean he has seen and heard it all, probably several times over.  Who wouldn’t find day to day living a bit of a chore?  He has a skill set that allows humans few protections until he meets Ranae.  And when he meets her he can’t figure out what to do, which led to me chuckling as he struggled to understand what he was doing wrong.  His ability to delude himself about his growing feelings for Renae was laughable at times and endearing at others.
Even though Alex had age on her, Ranae wasn’t going to let him get away with too much for too long.  I was impressed with the strength of character Ms. Barrymire gave us in Ranae.  Her ability to roll with the punches was admirable even as she struggled to accept her changing view of the world.  She wasn’t sure she believed Alex’s “delusions” but when she had no choice; she listened to her options, made a decision and then stuck with it.  I loved that she was willing to fight both her fears and Alex’s as well so that she could have her happily ever after.
I thought Renae was a fitting mate for Alex.  She wouldn’t stand for too much of Alex’s arrogance and was more than willing to put him in his place when necessary.  I loved that Alex was no longer alone.  He was Made Whole as he stepped into a future with Ranae by his side.
